Oxygen Bomb Combustion Apparatus - Parr Instrument Company

Provides a self-sealing oxygen combustion bomb with all accessories needed to determine sulfur, halogens and other elements in solid or liquid samples as prescribed in ASTM D3177 (sulfur in coal and coke), D129 (sulfur in petroleum products), D2361 (chlorine in coal), D808 (chlorine in petroleum products), and other standard ASTM methods for sulfur and chlorine. Samples weighing from 0.8 to 1.0 gram can be burned completely in this 342 mL bomb, and all combustion products recovered within a few minutes after starting a test. Combustion occurs while the bomb is submerged in running water in a special water bath furnished with the apparatus.

Apparatus consists of: a 16-5976 Oxygen Bomb; a 16-6100 Oxygen Connection with gauges and couplings for filling the bomb with oxygen; a 16-5998 Ignition Unit with connecting cords to provide the proper electric current for firing the bomb; six 16-6102 Capsules for holding the sample; three cards 16-6104 Fuse Wire; and a water bath for holding the bomb during firing operations. Additional items supplied include a stand for holding the bomb cover while attaching the sample and fuse wire; gelatin capsules for holding volatile samples; a supply of extra gaskets for the bomb and an instruction manual. A special oxygen bomb appartus (Parr 1921) with a larger, 1850 mL bomb can be provided on special order for analyzing cellulosic materials and other slow burning samples using larger amounts of sample than can be accommodated in the 16-5976 bomb. Complete information on request.
