Sabouraud Dextrose Agar is used in qualitative procedures for the cultivation of dermatophytes and other pathogenic and nonpathogenic fungi from clinical and nonclinical specimens.
- Low pH is favorable for the growth of fungi
- Dehydrated appearance: Light beige, free-flowing
- Peptones are the source of nitrogenous growth factors
The addition of antimicrobics further increases the selectivity of the medium.
