For testing glass apparatus under vacuum for microscopic leaks in the system. Also starts high pressure sodium and mercury lamps. Produces adjustable spark from 10,000 to 50,000 volts at a frequency of 0.5 megahertz. Consists of a high-frequency coil of the Tesla type with one terminal of the secondary connected to the pointed end of the electrode. An adjusting knob at the end of the handle regulates the intensity of the output spark. Intended for intermittent use only it has on-off switch which automatically turns off when released. Equipped with 8-foot, 3-wire cord and plug for operation on 120 volts, 50/60 Hz, AC.
