In 1970 we responded to increasing concerns over health and safety issues related to the handling of powdered culture media. By developing a way to manufacture our media in granulated form we were able to significantly reduce the health risks to microbiology lab personnel and, at the same time, build in other significant, differentiating products benefits. Because granules reduce dust, health risks due to inhalation, exposure to surface residues and airborn irritants are minimized
Typical Analysis: Sulfated ash (600°C) ?6.0%; loss on drying (105°C, 4 h) ?12.0%; calcium ?0.5%; magnesium ?0.1%; solidification point 32-36°C; suitability for microbiology: conforms.
Application: Agar-Agar is a solidifying agent that has been specially purified and freed from antimicrobial inhibitors. 12g agar-agar dissolved in 1L freshly distilled or demineralized water gives a clear gel when poured into the culture vessel.
