Sorbitol MacCONKEY Agar, Granulated, EMD

In 1970 we responded to increasing concerns over health and safety issues related to the handling of powdered culture media. By developing a way to manufacture our media in granulated form we were able to significantly reduce the health risks to microbiology lab personnel and, at the same time, build in other significant, differentiating products benefits. Because granules reduce dust, health risks due to inhalation, exposure to surface residues and airborn irritants are minimized.
Typical Composition (g/L): Peptones 20.0; sodium chloride 5.0; bile salts No. 3 1.5; sorbitol 10.0; crystal violet 0.001; neutral red 0.03; agar-agar 15.0.
Application: For the isolation of enterohemorrhagic (EHEC) E. coli O157 strains from food. To increase selectivity, Sorbitol MacCONKEY Agar is supplemented with CT Supplement (EMD No. 1.09202.0001).
